Beth D. Zachary, FACHE
Sr. Vice President, Adventist Health
President & CEO, Adventist Health/Southern California Region
As the president and CEO of the Southern California Region of Adventist Health, Beth Zachary is charged with bringing together the various healthcare businesses – physician services, urgent care clinics, primary care centers, hospitals, skilled nursing centers, home care and hospice services – to create a healthcare company that will both perform competitively and carry out the mission of Adventist Health.
The region is well on its way to doing this, having just completed its first strategic plan which calls for the development of narrow networks within the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura and Kern. The successful accomplishment of this will require partnerships with other recognized providers who share a common mission and common values.
The hospitals that anchor the network include Glendale Adventist Medical Center, San Joaquin Community Hospital, Simi Valley Hospital and White Memorial Medical Center. The supporting physician organization provides a variety of options for membership including a medical group, IPA and Clinically Integrated Network. In 2014, the region generated $1.3 billion in revenue.
Beth brings 35 years of experience to the work of building the AH Southern California Network. Over the years, she has been recognized for her ability to bring people and partners together to achieve strategic results.
Concurrent with her role as president of the AHSCR, Beth has also served as President and CEO of the White Memorial Medical Center – a 354-bed teaching hospital located east of downtown Los Angeles that serves as one of LA County's key safety net hospitals. Under her leadership, the hospital completed a 10-year campus rebuild. The new hospital not only provides state-of-the-art technology and services, it meets California's rigorous seismic safety standards.
Working hand-in-hand with the board and medical staff, Beth put White Memorial on the forefront of clinical quality, patient experience and community partnerships. The hospital has been identified as one of the state's top performers, earning multiple awards and recognitions for exceptional performance.
Of equal importance, White Memorial developed numerous community partnerships designed to meet critical community needs. These include workforce development, childcare, social programs, chronic disease management for conditions such as diabetes, the Center for Hispanic Health and others.
She holds a master's degree in management from Claremont Graduate School in Claremont, California. She resides in Pasadena with her husband, Jim, and daughter Alexandra.
