LOS ANGELES, CA - May 11, 2011 - Time is critical for anyone experiencing the symptoms of a stroke. Every minute that passes without treatment can mean the difference between full recovery and permanent disability or death.

All caregivers, stroke survivors, individuals with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or stroke in their immediate family, and those concerned about stroke and heart disease are invited to attend this free stroke symposium.  It will be held on Thursday, May 24, from 12:30 to 4:30 PM in the Olivet Chapel at White Memorial Medical Center, 1720 E. Cesar Chavez Ave.

At the symposium, participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of stoke, learn what to do if someone is having a stroke, how to prevent a stroke and even ask a physician about their specific risk for having a stroke as well as get a free blood pressure screening.
