Cardiac Rehab is the Only Certified Program in LA County
The White Memorial Cardiac Rehabilitation Program has met the criteria for certification by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This is a significant achievement for the program since there are only eight other programs in California that have achieved this certification. WMMC’s Cardiac Rehab Program is the only certified program in Los Angeles County. The program has been certified through August 2009.
“This is a positive advancement for the Rehabilitation Services Department, especially for the staff and patients of the Cardiac Rehab Program,” said Sherry Foldvary, Director of Rehabilitation Services.
The program’s certification signifies that it meets and provides the highest standard of quality patient care. Some of the elements include, besides the standard Joint Commission compliance, collecting patient data, measuring and evaluating outcomes, consistency in the program’s health benefits (such as behavior changes, education, exercise and improving the health of patients from the community), and contributing this data to a national database for evaluation purposes.
Congratulations to Jennifer Lee, Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Coordinator, Sandra Rostirolla, Manager of Accreditation and Safety, (who was the Physical Therapy Clinical Coordinator during the application process), and Rainier Manzanilla, MD, Medical Director of the Cardiac Rehab Program, for their dedicated work in making this certification a reality.
“Jennifer and her rehab team complete our cardiac serviceline program. They are the icing on the cake. Their program not only rehabilitates our cardiac patients physically but also psycho-socially with their compassionate care,” said Crystal Davis, Director of the Cardiac Serviceline.
