. Most Proud Accomplishment/s: I was an active participant in the Student National Medical Association during my four years of medical school and I served as treasurer during my second year. SNMA is an organization dedicated to ensuring culturally sensitive medical education and increasing the number of minority students entering medical school. We achieved these goals by celebrating cultural holidays, participating in community events and maintaining a presence in local high schools and colleges to encourage young students to enter medicine.

Between my first and second years of medical school, I analyzed data from another breast cancer study at Loma Linda University. This last project was presented at the Western Regional Research Forum in 2007.

• Personal Accomplishments: Traveling to Africa and making it to Timbuktu! What started out as a simple desire for French language immersion became the establishing of authentic friendships and professional involvement with the OB/GYN department at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. The friendly and sincere welcome I received further fueled my interest in international women’s health, and I look forward to returning a third time and participating in the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) this coming year as well.

Designed presentations for local high schools about the prevention and pathology of HIV/AIDS for Students Teaching AIDS to Students. While on a medical mission to Peru with the Peruvian American Medical Society, I helped provide medical care and assisted on procedures with various specialty physicians. Conducted research in the areas of identifying the source of errors in prescription writing and serving as a Cardiovascular lab co-leader regarding Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome.

• Personal Accomplishments: I had the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic for a month-long rotation with my medical school to provide care to underserved women of the various communities. It was very rewarding to see about 300 patients in a four-week period. It was also a very eye-opening experience to be immersed in such a vibrant and lively culture!
